Matt McLennan, head of the Global Value team, joined First Eagle Investment Management in 2008. Prior to that, he worked for Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) in London as co-portfolio manager of Global Equity Partners, a group he founded, which ran a focused global equity portfolio for offshore private wealth clients. The portfolio used a value-driven approach with an absolute-return focus that emphasized low turnover and downside protection. He was named a managing director at Goldman Sachs after serving as co-founder and equity chief investment officer of the firm’s Investment Strategy Group for private wealth clients. Before that, he was senior portfolio manager and co-portfolio manager of Goldman’s U.S. Small-Cap Value and U.S. Mid-Cap Value strategies. Matt started his career with Queensland Investment Corporation (Australia) in 1991, where he eventually managed over one billion dollars in international equity portfolios. Born in Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, he grew up in Queensland, Australia and received his Bachelor of Commerce with first-class honors from the University of Queensland.
Abhay Deshpande joined First Eagle Investment Management in 2000 as a senior member of the Global Value research team covering energy, base metals, retail, media, and technology, among other industries. He is a portfolio manager of First Eagle’s Global Value and International Value strategies. Prior to joining the firm, Abhay spent three years as a research analyst with Harris Associates, advisers to the Oakmark International Fund and other international and global products. He was also an analyst for Morningstar. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville.
Kimball Brooker joined First Eagle’s Global Value team in 2009 as a senior research analyst covering banks, commercial services, financial services and holding companies. He is a portfolio manager for the First Eagle Global Value and International Value strategies. Prior to joining First Eagle, Kimball was managing director and Chief Investment Officer of the Corsair Funds. In 2006, Corsair successfully completed a spin-off from J.P. Morgan with nearly $3 billion under management. Kimball began his career in 1992 as a financial analyst at Lazard Frères & Co. He received his B.A. from Yale University and his MBA from Harvard University.
Jean-Marie Eveillard started his career with Société Générale before relocating to the United States in 1968. Two years later, he became an analyst with the SoGen International Fund, and in 1979, he was appointed portfolio manager of the SoGen International Fund, later named the First Eagle Global Fund. From 1993-2004, Jean-Marie was the lead portfolio manager for all of First Eagle’s Global Value strategies. He left these duties in 2004 but returned to them on a temporary basis in 2007 and part of 2008. He continues to serve as a senior adviser to the Global Value team and as a Senior Vice President of the firm. In 2001 Jean-Marie was named Morningstar’s International Manager of the Year, and in 2003 he received a lifetime achievement award from Morningstar for building one of the most successful long-term records in the investment business. Born in Poitiers, France, he is a graduate of Écoles des Hautes Études Commerciales, a French graduate school for economic studies.
Colin Morris has managed U.S. Equity institutional accounts for First Eagle since 1996. He first joined the firm in 1992 as portfolio manager of the merger arbitrage and distressed funds. Prior to that, he was a partner at Mabon Securities, where he was responsible for arbitrage investments, and an analyst at Mitchell and Associates, a boutique mergers and acquisitions investment company. He holds a BSc degree in engineering from the University of Cape Town and a MBA in finance and economics from Columbia University.
Phillip is a senior vice president who joined First Eagle as an analyst in 1996. In 2009, he was named portfolio manager of institutional long-only accounts. Prior to joining the firm, he was an associate at Goldman Sachs & Co. where he focused on providing advisory services to financial institutions. He started his career at Citicorp as a credit officer in the finance/leasing division. He holds a BA degree from Cornell University and a MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.
Ed Meigs joined First Eagle Investment Management in October 2011. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Portfolio Manager of the Dwight High Yield strategy at Dwight Asset Management Company LLC. Previously, he spent four years at Mount Washington Investment Group as a High Yield Portfolio Manager. Prior to that, he served as Vice President at Falcon Asset Management. Ed began his career at Wheat First as a Credit Analyst. Ed received his B.A. from Occidental College and his MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Sean Slein joined First Eagle Investment Management in October 2011. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Portfolio Manager of the Dwight High Yield Strategy at Dwight Asset Management Company LLC. Previously, he spent two years as a fixed income analyst in the private placement department of Allstate Insurance Company. Sean began his career on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange as an options strategist with Discount Corporation of New York Futures. Sean received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and his MBA from the University of Chicago.
Giorgio Caputo joined First Eagle Investment Management in 2009 as a research analyst on the Global Value team. In 2012, in addition to his research analyst role, he became a portfolio manager of the Global Income strategy with Rob Hordon, Ed Meigs and Sean Slein. Prior to joining the firm, Giorgio was a managing director and industry generalist at JANA Partners, LLC, pursuing a value-oriented strategy investing across the capital structure in both equity and credit instruments. Previously, he executed leveraged finance transactions and provided mergers and acquisitions advice for industrial and services businesses in the investment banking division of Credit Suisse First Boston, as part of the firm’s M&A Takeover Defense team. Giorgio received his B.A. from Princeton University and his MBA from Columbia Business School.
Rob Hordon joined First Eagle Investment Management in July 2001 as a risk arbitrage analyst, and joined the Global Value team as a research analyst in 2008. In addition to his research analyst role, Rob became a portfolio manager on the Global Income strategy in 2012, along with Giorgio Caputo, Ed Meigs and Sean Slein. Prior to attending business school, Rob spent three years as an equity research associate at Credit Suisse First Boston. He received his B.A. from Princeton University and his MBA from Columbia Business School. Rob holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Jason joined First Eagle Investment Management in May 2000. Prior to joining the firm, he was a director and senior risk arbitrage analyst at RBC Dominion Securities Corp. He joined RBC in 1997 at the inception of the bank's proprietary risk arbitrage department, where he built and directed the group's research team. He began his career at Neuberger Berman, LLC in 1992 as an analyst and later became senior analyst for both the risk arbitrage and convertible arbitrage strategies. Jason received his BA in Economics from Bucknell University in 1991.
Jonathan joined First Eagle's Arbitrage team as an analyst in April 1999, and was made co-portfolio manager in 2005. Prior to joining the firm, Jonathan was the director of a family investment office where his responsibilities included managing a $50 million portfolio of alternative asset investments. He began his career in finance in 1990 at Lehman Brothers as a corporate analyst, and worked as a buy-side associate at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Inc. following his MBA. Jonathan graduated Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University in 1990 and earned his MBA from Columbia Business School in 1995.
